He revived the “langue d’oc”, was the author of a large number of poems, the most famous of which is “Mireille”.
He lived in Maillane, his birthplace, and wrote all his works there. In 1904, he received the Nobel prize in Literature. The inhabitants of the village are still deeply connected to the writer. They celebrate his birthday every year, turning September 7th into a beautiful Provençal day.
